The fact that both titles are being released so close to the announcement of the nominations suggests a critical debate amongst gamers. If both titles manage to make it onto the nominee list so close to the deadline, this could give rise to some rather controversial opinions. There could be accusations of favouritism towards large companies and studios. Which can submit their titles even a day before the nominees are confirmed and still compete in the same category as other games. Games that have been released throughout the year and have had months of gameplay, with players experiencing their content and completing playthroughs.
Waiting On The Final Nominees List
The question is not whether GTA technically qualifies for The Game Awards. As the official rules allow games released by November 20 to enter the nominee list. There is no doubt in the gamer community that GTA 6 has the quality and potential to enter the Game of the Year category. The real question is whether the jury can properly evaluate a game of this scale in such a short period.
