Backrooms: The deadliest Entities Ranked

The famous indie survival video game Backrooms portrays an impossibly large extradimensional complex of empty rooms full of dangerous entities. Wanderers, players, slip into a strange alternate reality that uses a VHS-Style for visuals and found-footage aesthetic to heighten the sense of thrill, and uncertainty.

This multiplayer survival pitches the idea into the players that they are coming across a universe they shouldn’t know about. Backrooms does not prioritise an elaborate story with detailed missions or spaces. This video game aims to scare the players with a much more urgent sensation of survival.

Skin-Stealer

backrooms-the-deadliest-entities-ranked

Entity 10

A grey humanoid entity with a mouth that goes down to their abdomen. Blood stains around their mouth, and two glowing red eyes. These strange creatures can steal the player’s skin after killing them and disguise as a wanderer to lure the other players into their trap.

Skin-stealers can either start with or without skin. At first glance it seems impossible to differentiate a Skin-stealer’s impersonation of a wanderer from a player. However, once this entity sees a wanderer, it will start chasing them, and if they are disguised, their skin will disappear when they approach the player.

Moreover, Skin-Stealers can talk. But they can only say “Hello”, “excuse me”, and “Hey,hey!”.

What to do when encountering a Skin-stealer:

  • Run away from any other player who appears to be chasing you.
  • Shut the doors behind you.

  • In Level 0.11 and Level 55.1: hide inside lockers.

They are characterised by sexual dimorphism, which means that meleas act differently from males.

Male deathmoths are harmless and easy to kill. They fly around in one place in groups, in levels 5 and 9 in backrooms. Everytime a player kills a group of male deathmoths, a new male will appear in a different selected location.

Female Deathmoth

Female deadmoths are black, white and grey creatures, bigger than the male of the same species, and with a mark on their back that resembles a skull. They sit on the wall and if they catch you they take you to the nearest hive. However, if there’s no hive around it will kill you.
