The Blood of Dawnwalker is finally here, and with it comes one of the most eagerly awaited RPGs of the year. Packed with character interactions, weighty decisions and intriguing quests. We’ve dove into Coen’s story to bring you a walkthrough of the Echoes of Silenced Bells quest.

Attention Gamers!

As a recommendation, it is best to complete this mission during the night. Coen’s vampire abilities will make it easier to access the locations and move around the convent’s buildings.

Echoes Of Silenced Bells, The Walkthrough

In Echoes of Silenced Bells, Coen accompanies Anca to St Tina’s Convent. The aim is to retrieve the forbidden books containing ancient wisdom that will help Coen defeat the Vrakiri. First you’ll need to meet with Anca at the old inn, to the west of the map. During this mission, you’ll have several opportunities to ask Anca why she left the convent. What happened to make her abandon her former life. We recommend that you explore these dialogue options so that you can complete the story and get to know the characters better.

Accompany Anca up the hill, venturing into the mist until you reach the gates of the convent. Upon entering, Coen and Anca will come across a nun who appears to still be alive. However, it seems that a magical power is keeping the convent’s inhabitants in a state of the living dead.

After attempting to kill a nun, Coen and Anca witness her ‘resurrection’. This is a very important piece of information for this mission. You must bear in mind that, even if you defeat an enemy, they will rise again as a zombie.

Once inside the convent and out on the balcony, Anca identifies all the buildings in sight. The zombie nuns are patrolling the central courtyard, blocking any safe route to the library. Voices can be heard coming from the infirmary. We can see a hole in the chapel ceiling and another in the wall of the bell tower.

First ideas you might have to clear the path

(Optional) Check out the bell tower.

Whilst describing each building, Anca will explain that the bell tower used to govern their lives, and that the sound of its bell would signal when to go and pray and carry out their chores. After this conversation, you might be tempted to go and ring the bell, just in case the nuns remember their old ways and withdraw from the courtyard when they hear the sound of the bell.

However, we can confirm that the bell does not affect the nuns’ behaviour. Which might suggest that they are no longer themselves.

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Clear the path to the Library

Talk to the soldiers inside the infirmary

(Optional) Investigate the sounds coming from the infirmary.

From the balcony, jump down onto the rooftops on the left-hand side. This part of the map is free of zombies, and whether it’s day or night, you’ll have no trouble making your way down the rooftops to the ground. Walk towards the rear of the infirmary building. Behind the wooden stairs, at ground level, you’ll find a window you can interact with.

Inside the infirmary, you’ll find a group of soldiers cornered by the situation outside the infirmary.

Echoes of Silenced Bells G.O.

The soldiers inside the building will ask Coen what he is doing there. As soon as you tell them you want to get into the library, they will offer you a deal. They are there to retrieve a relic, something the Kynaz need. Coen will agree to retrieve the amulet for the soldiers in exchange for them clearing the way to the library.

From the infirmary, head to the chapel. You can jump from rooftop to rooftop if it’s night-time. If it’s daytime, make sure the nuns don’t spot you; don’t stop, and don’t cross the courtyard in a straight line.

Access the chapel to find clues

(Optional) Check out the chapel.

Inside the chapel, you’ll find a prayer book on a bench and a rosary on the floor. However, from the central room, facing the altar, you’ll need to jump up to the second wooden floor to find a chest. Read the letter from the prioress.

You can approach the altar to see the saint’s body in a broken glass urn that appears to be broken. Furthermore, the history of the convent is depicted in the paintings surrounding the altar.

Go to the shed to find the keys

From the chapel, leave the building and head north-west, towards the buildings beyond the main courtyard. Carry on towards the small chapel to the north-west and go round the building to find a small shed built against the stone wall.

The door is open and you can go inside. Inside, you’ll find the Monastery Keys hanging on the wall.

Find the amulet in the small chapell

Leave the shed and return to the small chapel. You can open the door with the Monastery Keys found in the shed. Inside, approach the altar and examine the body in front of it. This body has the relic the guards are looking for hanging around its neck.

Take the relic and head back to the infirmary. Return to the same window where you spoke to the soldiers. When you hand over the relic, the soldiers will honour their part of the deal and clear the way to the library.

From here, go back to Anca. When you speak to her, her reaction will be the same regardless of whether or not you have handed the relic over to the soldiers.

Clearing the path to access the library completes the first part of Echoes of Silenced Bells.

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Access the library

In this second half of Echoes of Silenced Bells you’ll follow Anca to the library. You’ll go up the wood stairs on the back side of the infirmary, walk the corridor that separates the infirmary from the library and enter the two level building. Investigate all bookshelves, you’ll find interesting text there. Then follow Anca to the ground floor and push the library aside from the wall.

Anca will tell you that the books you are looking for are inside the catacombs.

Go down the Catacombs

In the catacombs you’ll encounter some nuns that are still active. However, these enemies stay dead once you defeat them. At the end of the path you’ll reach a room in the catacombs where you’ll find Leonica.

Now, if you’ve experienced the complete dialogue, you’ll remember her from Anca’s story. Her friend in the convent from a noble family that arrived in the convent after a marriage that her parents did not approve of, and after giving birth to a child. But Leonica is different now; we found her drawing a spell on her arm with a knife and speaking latin.

Reveal the truth and decide

After you defeat Leonica, Anca will check her motives and investigations, revealing that Leonica was going to free the nuns from the spell, and you just interrupted her. When Anca tries to complete the hex herself you can decide whether to support her or convince her not to.

Stop Anca form completing the Hex

Coen will burn the Hex so that Anca cannot complete it. Anca will have to come to terms with the fact that her fellow nuns are dead and will return to her cabin. Coen will follow her, and they will take the books with them so that they can study them in peace. The Convent will remain cursed.

Supporting Anca to complete the ritual

Coen will hand the hex notes to Anca. She will then instruct Coen to gather all the books and wait for her outside whilst she completes the ritual. From the library, Coen will see the spell on the convent being lifted. When Anca emerges from the catacombs, the nuns will have disappeared from the convent. For the remainder of the run, the convent will appear abandoned and empty.

A Great RPG with Choices that Have a Major Impact on the Plot

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an RPG full of choices that directly affect the main plot, how the protagonist is perceived by others, the quests they choose to devote their time to, and how they grow stronger before facing their family’s captor.

Similar games, such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and The Witcher series, are other examples of video games in which the characters’ decisions and behaviour can radically alter the story.
