Description

From publisher blurb: Through rugged wilderness and dungeon deep, untold dangrs and treasures lost await to be discovered. Do you have what it takes to wield sword or spell and embark on perilous adventures. Do you have what it takes to be an adventurer. Wyverns & Warlocks is a classic fantasy storytelling game, written to be easy to learn and fun to play. This game brings together the simplicity of old school roleplay with the flexibility of current generation of games. Sit down with three to five other players and embark upon the epic of your own making. The Player's Handbook is the first half of the core rules, giving the players everything they need to start playing; from rules, to character creation, to advice on how to play. The Action Check Engine Wyverns & Warlocks is driven by a new game engine inspired by such games as A.G.E. and the d20 system. This game mechanic is called the Action Check Engine, or A.C.E. for short. A.C.E. utilises 3d6 (three six sided dice) at the heart of it’s system. Each time a character needs to attempt an action; be it to complete a task, make an attack, or even avoid the effects of a spell, the character is required to make an action check. Each action check is linked to one of the six key character attributes; Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence Wisdom, and Charisma. The value of the character’s attribute, along with their character class, determines the modifier applied to the dice roll. If the final result equals of exceeds a set number (referred to as the Target Number), the action check succeeds. The action check mechanic is further enhanced with doubles and triples on the dice rolled adding additional modifiers to the final result of the check.
