A Brief Game Overwiew
When players launch Sea of Thieves they can choose between the two main options:
High Seas, a full multiplayer experience, which means PvP can and will happen. And it is the only mode to unlock the pirate legend status, raise emissary flags for more reward, join guilds and progress past level 25 in trading companies.
Safer Seas puts the player in a server with no other players. Perfect for practicing, relaxing and exploring. Players can still earn gold and progress commendations, but reputation is capped at level 25.
Once the player has chosen between both game modes, it is time to pick a ship between Sloop, brigantine and galleon. If it’s the first time playing, it is recommended to go through the maiden voyage, as it is a tutorial island that teaches the fundamentals like using the compass, lantern, sword and gun. Once it is done, it is time to join the first session and choose a trading company in the spawn island.

Blige Rats: a less traditional trading company and more of a guild of adventurers, led by Larinna. Instead of a standard reputation system, they focus on completing Commendations that encourage crews to explore the newest and most exciting additions to the seas.
