Adversity is overcome, lives are saved, and – not to belabor the point – things are exploded. Suitable points of reference include the Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Bad Boys franchises, Hong Kong actioners like Hard Boiled and Supercop, sci-fi fare like Robocop and They Live, and even corner-case stuff like Beverly Hills Cop and Escape from New York.
