Game review
Resident Evil 4,titled BIOHAZARD RE:4 in Japan, is a survival horror video game released in 2005. Resident Evil 4 also had a remake released on March 24, 2023, retaining the core game while modernising combat, visuals, controls, and level design.
Resident Evil is a long-running survival horror video game franchise developed and published by Capcom. The series follows the main protagonists who battle dangerous biological weapons (B.O.W.s), deadly viruses, and powerful organisations responsible for creating and spreading these threats.
A Supernatural Rescue Mission
In this game, you follow agent Leon S. Kennedy on his mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President of the United States, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult. Leon S. Kennedy had survived the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City six years ago. In this game, Leon travels to a rural area of Spain where he encounters a group of violent villagers who swear allegiance to The Illuminati, the organisation that kidnapped Ashley. In this village, he teams up with Luis Sera, a former investigator on the case.
In the game, you’ll control Leon S. Kennedy from a third-person perspective. The game focuses on action and shooting at large numbers of enemies in open spaces. Unlike previous games in the series, a laser sight has been added, which improves the depth of the weapon’s aim; this allows the player to aim in various directions and easily change the sight’s position at any time.
A Brief Game Overview
Resident Evil (2005) combines exploration, resource management, puzzle-solving, and fast-paced combat. The game features several modes , including main story campaign, NewGame+, higher difficulty settings, and The Mercenaries, an arcade-style mode focused on defeating enemies and achieving high scores.
These are the type of enemies featured in Resident Evil 4:
Ganado: These are the primary enemies in Resident Evil 4. They are the inhabitants of a rural town in the middle of a vast mountainous region controlled by a religious cult called The Illuminati, in Spain. The Ganado look like ordinary people, and their only distinguishing feature is their reddish eyes.
Los Iluminados: are a religious sect originating from Valdelobos, Spain. According to tradition, they are the continuation of an ancient, primordial religion and were probably linked to a civilisation that once flourished in the caves beneath Salazar Castle.
Las Plagas are a genus of parasitic arthropods that belong to an unknown taxonomical order. They are endemic to a remote, montane region of Spain, from which they derive their name, “las plagas,” meaning “the plagues” in Spanish.
Regeneradores are experimental bioweapons created by Los Iluminados. The Regeneradores themselves are created by implanting multiple parasites into a human body, causing the body to mutate radically.
Jack Krauser was an agent for the 3rd Organization during the War on Terro. Previously a soldier within USSOCOM known as “Silverdax,” he was forced into retirement after a 2002 mission to South America with USSTRATCOM agent Leon S. Kennedy. During his employment within The Organization, Krauser took part in the infiltration of Los Iluminados to obtain a Plaga parasite.
Lord Osmund Saddler is the leader of Los Iluminados, a neopagan cult and paramilitary organisation. He is a bio-weapons research chief who resides in an isolated Spanish region.
Ramón Salazar, a Spanish nobleman from Valdelobos. A descendent of the 15th century noble warrior, Gregorio Salazar I, Salazar left his Catholic faith behind and converted to Los Iluminados .
The U-3, dubbed “It” by Osmund Saddler, is one of the experimental bioweapons developed by Saddler’s research team on the island. A horrifying chimera of human, insect, and reptile DNA fused imperfectly into a single being, itself hosting a Plaga parasite.
The Verdugos, also known as U-III in the reimagining, are B.O.W.s created by Los Iluminados to serve as personal bodyguards or the right-hand men of Ramón Salazar.
