Wild Romance is based on a title previously released by Norn/Miel in Japan that contains a lot of NSFW images, text and spoken Japanese dialogue. A decision was made for the initial release on Steam to remove all adult content and focus on creating a “family friendly” Japanese Visual Novel experience. Wild Romance does contain lots of flirting and a bit of nudity but does not contain any scenes with explicit sexual content. The founders of Cherry Kiss Games recognized the quality of the original title and noticed the outpouring from fans looking for a full version of the game in English. An agreement was initially made to complete the translation of all adult scenes which more than doubled the total game text to over 100,000 words. As part of this process the UI was overhauled and sprite animations were added to allow for a more dynamic experience.
