Description

From the introduction: Welcome to VVR a new type of role-playing-game with new concepts that allows you to play through a bbs or in live session. In this file you will get to learn how to create a character, get started, and how to play. This file can let you into cyberspace through text, like a text adventure game or if during a live session, through narration. User summary: Virtual Virtual Reality is a peculiar "fusion" game, intended to support several styles of play: As a traditional tabletop game As a solitaire, procedurally generated game As an online "text adventure" interactive program As a setting option for use with The Palladium Role-Playing Game The game is set in the "future" and envisions a style of multi-user, online virtual reality. Characters, then, are virtual avatars in an online reality. The author suggests that players play "themselves" as their character. The tabletop play method uses a constrained set of options intended to mimic online play. The game is distributed as a ZIP archive containing several text files: VVRRULV3 - "User Manual" (character creation) VVRREFV3 - "Programmers Guide" (fusion of GM guide and actual developer instructions for programmatic implementation) CYRULES3 - Introduction to Cyberia, the online reality CYBERIA - Map of Cyberia VVRMAP - Grid map for procedural play VRSHEET - Print-and-play character sheet README - Basic orientation SETUP - Printing suggestions The game rules are written in an idiosyncratic style, combining game play rules with implementation details. There is a clear attempt to present the game in a technical way, as if it were a program.
