When Megatron discovers a way to harness the power of plasma energy to cyberform the planet Earth, destroying organic life and turning the planet to metal, Optimus Prime and the Autobots must work to bring down the plasma-powered Decepticons. Transformers: Devastation is an action game similar to PlatinumGames's other titles. Battling against Decepticon forces within large 3D environments, players are able to control one of five Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock. Gameplay includes fast-paced combos as well as the ability to switch between vehicle and robot modes.
