From the introduction: The Puzzlemaster is a devious mastermind of great intelligence and sadistic tendencies. Despite this, The Puzzlemaster has a bizarre sense of fair play. He often lures scavengers into his twisted games with the promises of supplies, and often they never leave alive. He derives amusement from seeing people agonize through his trials and feels no pity for those that die because they were not able to accomplish the tasks he gives them.
