From the introduction: At the end of the Clone Wars, the CIS Banking Clan Frigate, San Nalaor, arrived at a hidden CIS cybernetics research station “Outpost Peth” in the uninhabited Singla System. The San Nalaor had orders to evacuate the scientists and remaining technology off the outpost. Unbeknownst to them, Republic (now Imperial) agents had recently received the coordinates of the research station.
