From the introduction: While The Vast in the Dark can be used as a setting location and an interesting place to explore, the focus of this zine is to provide a framework for Referees to quickly generate massive amounts of area to explore with little to no set up. This is done by giving tools for generating maps and areas in regional, local, and small scale, as well as populating them with various features. In addition to these tools there is a series of setting specific content to use including: player options to choose, hazards to overcome, societies and factions to interact with, and terrifying mysteries to explore. The Vast in the Dark was made with the intention of being modular and easily adapted into any game.
