From Introduction: This is the third adventure in the Ashes of Athas campaign. In AOA1-1: The Worth of a Slave, an organization known as the True attack and destroy the Veiled Alliance in Tyr. The PCs barely escape with their lives, then learn that Sartaj, a Veiled Alliance cell leader, has been captured and is on board a slave caravan headed for Altaruk. The PCs free the cell leader and reach Altaruk. In AOA1-2: The False and the True, the True continue their attacks, this time in Altaruk. The PCs are implicated in the assassination of Ariphistaneles, the village’s leader. The PCs race to find clues and beat back the true, while helping chose alliances that will strengthen the village. At the conclusion the elven assassin, Deevo, is uncovered, and the PCs prepare to confront him. He escapes on a chariot, fleeing to the True’s base.
