This is a game about jailbreaking a mech - not hacking one. The would-be Breaker forms a mental link with a static mech. They try to prove to the AI core that they are everything the pilot they were coded for was. They prove this, flee empty-handed but with their life intact, or are killed by the Mech they're attempting to breach.
