From the introduction: Welcome to the ruins of the Kingdom of Hyrule. Ten thousand years ago, an evil malevolent force known only as Calamity Ganon appeared with the intent of destroying the kingdom. However, it was repelled, and eventually defeated, thanks to the combined efforts of a swordsman hero, a princess wielding the powers of the Goddess Hylia, and an army of magical war machines- Guardians- built by the kingdom to bolster and protect the Hero and the Princess.
