From introduction: The magic of dragons is a powerful thing indeed. Lesser beings who would aspire to wield such magic take their lives in their hands, and lose control of it more often than not. Some see too much success early on, and it goes to their head. They get overconfident and go in search of their downfall. Such was the dracomancer who delved too deeply into the depths of Ardoussarlis, the dead city in the Zakhab Wastes. What ever became of her, they asked each other, back in the safety of the Empire. For she surely never did come back. And so they are right, for it is true. She remains in those ruins to this day, changed beyond all recognition. At first, it was her own magic that reshaped her body, but then she discovered the crystals. They litter the subterranean halls of the dead city, glowing with a soft magenta light. She was not the first wizard who learned how to consume their energies, nor was she the last. But she was one of the few who survived and became addicted to them. The power inside her grew and warped her, body and mind. Now she is no longer human. Her needs and desires transcend the mortal realm — though some would say she has degenerated to a state lower than vermin. The goblins of the Ifflit’hub clan keep her hidden away inside the dead city, feeding her crystals in exchange for knowledge. For she has become a mighty seer, images of the future forcing their way into her brain (or brains, plural, for perhaps she now has one for each of her many faces?). The Ifflit’hubis are the mightiest of the goblin mutants, and the special foresight of their “dragonseer” is one of the reasons why. They often seem to know exactly what their enemies are plotting!
