From the introduction: Ne-Agyn Keep was built nearly 1,000 years ago by ancient kings prior to the Banishment of the deities and the attempted destruction of humanity. Within this fortress, ceremonies were conducted for the gods and goddesses of Juravia, honoring them and their ways. The traditions ended, however, with the Banishment and the cruel and ruthless destruction of the Keep’s inhabitants by Necros, the god of death. In scant moments the knowledge and ceremonies of the Keep’s inhabitants were lost, and would remain lost for centuries.
