From the introduction: A highly intelligent and evolved insect species rules the world. Larvae are born into a role, which they will fulfill until their dying day. Each colony consists of a Queen, a ruling class (divided into 13 Houses) and a vast population of specialized drones. There are drones that harvest food and water, drones that create tools and luxury items, that tend the young, and every other thing that needs to be done to keep the Hive operating. Indeed, one Hive even bred enormous drones that moved about the land, carrying House and Nest upon their backs.а The ruling class, by contrast, have evolved to be nearly human in appearance. Indeed, the more important a personage, the more human his appearance, with scholars, warriors and drones having progressively more visibly insectoid traits. Sadly, our beloved Queen is dying. She has ruled for many long years, and the Hive has prospered. But now it is time to choose a new Queen. Thus opens the Season.
