He controls the entire world; the innkeepers, monsters, weather, dank dungeons, fair maidens, dragons, piles of acidic ooze and sentient man-eating treasure chests. The other players control their own characters that they dream up in their imagination. The Dungeon Master guides the players through an adventure he creates trying to challenge and entertain the players. The players try to navigate the world created by the Dungeon Master.
