Description

Star Crashers is a free, home made, tabletop, turn based game of space exploration and combat. It is a "friendly" competitive game, in that players are competing for points, but don't attack each other directly. Physical components include ships (either models or counters), a starbase, measuring sticks, and encounter blips. Planets or other "scenery" add visual interest and block line of sight, but are not required to play. Players start the game with equal number of points to purchase their fleet. Turns proceed clockwise around the table. Movement sticks are used to measure movement and weapon ranges. Each ship has a unique ability, for example bombers get an extra die when attacking, scout ships may examine encounter blips, and freighters get bonuses to repair rolls. Each ship in a fleet gets two actions per turn, which can include moving 1 stick, making a ranged attack, or collecting a commodity. Most combat occurs between player ships and Pirate ships or other enemies that appear when an encounter blip is revealed. Combat is a simple contested die roll, the number of dice based on the size and type of ship. Player ships don't get destroyed, rather they become crippled and can repair, be repaired, or return to the starport to get repaired. Unexplored space is represented by encounter blips, cards with different encounters placed face down and revealed when a ship comes in contact with them during its move. Resolution of the encounter blip can earn that player Credits. The game ends when all the blips have been resolved, and the player with the most credits wins!
