Part of the reason for this may have been that the cleric was drawn as much from horror movies (as a vampire hunter and exorcist) than heroic fantasy. This saw many players choosing to merely play a cleric because the party needed a magical healer, rather than embracing the role of militant servant of the faith or defender of the living against the dead. This book aims to shed some light on the way clerics can be used in Old School influenced games, through house rules, essays, and referee advice intended to add some extra spiritual flavor to clerics and religion for use with a classic-inspired OSR rules sets.
