from the Introduction: Ruinous Reactions is an entirely new system; an overhaul of fear, terror, and insanity in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition. I wrote it for a few reasons: Firstly, being afraid or terrified in RPGs tends to be a boring experience mechanically—you can't move, or you run away, perform actions, etc. You're taken out of the game. Your agency as a player is removed, rather than modified. The second reason is that most fear, terror, and insanity rules (not especially, but including WFRP2e's) are pretty ableist; they rely on outdated and often offensive interpretations of those reactions and mental illness. It is my hope that these new rules resolve those two issues.
