From the introduction: Years ago a clan of dwarves built an artificer lab beside a waterfall. They cleverly used a waterwheel to power the mechanisms necessary for their experiments. Using the nearby natural caves carved by an underground river as shelter they soon carved a temple into the rock in order to worship their gods complete with a defensive trap and a secret escape route.
