From the Introduction: A narrow dirt road winds through this quite forest. The ruts worn deeply into the dirt of the road speak of the regular traffic of carts and coaches it sees. Young spruce grow moderately dense to either side of the road their branches hanging low. Interspersed with them small shrubs grow, almost hugging the ground. Still enough light reaches the ground to allow grass and flowers to cover most of the ground between the trees.
