From the introduction: Mammon lets it be known to the party that prior to his ascension to rulership of the world, the Tree of Woe must be replanted. The tree is currently dying in its present location - the Caverns of Astragoth. These caves are home to two troglodyte tribes which are constantly at war with each other. Mammon decries that the party must find the tree and set it aflame. The heart of the tree will not burn and will need to be retrieved. The party will then need to take the heart of the tree to the Isle of the White Witch and bury it at the summit of the Mountain of the Moon. It must then be watered with the blood of an innocent.
