Description

User Summary The board game "poco a poco" is an excellent musical educational tool for any piano instructor. It is extremely versatile and can be used to facilitate learning in both group piano lessons and one-on-one piano lessons. It can be easily adapted for many or as few as two players, and the written board game "rules" are meant to broken if the needs of the class require the piano instructor to do so! The piano instructor must have these following items to actually play "poco a poco" successfully in conjunction with the board game itself: "one piano, metronome, basic technique, sight reading and ear training books/materials, manuscript paper or white board, and [little candies] or other treats." (Poco A Poco Game Rules, p. 1 poco a poco productions 1996) Game play Players or teams each roll die to move around the "keyboard" board, answering musical technique or term trivia and performing musical exercises in the varying categories required. Points or candies are awarded to players or teams who have completed their trivia or exercises successfully. The player or team who has the most points or candies is declared the winner. Only a few hundred copies were produced and sold locally. Production ceased when the designers diverged.
