Description

User summary: Pigmy was a fanzine with regular coverage of Diplomacy, Kingmaker, and other postal games. Pigmy was authored and edited by Stephen Agar and published 32 standard and one special issues from August 1977 through November 1979. Issues 1 through 31 and the special issue focus exclusively on boardgames. The final issue (#32, detailed here) includes "Viskoth the Sad", a scenario for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (1st Edition). The scenario is presented on 6 pages of the 16-page issue. The issue also was distributed with a six-page A4 "supplement" and an A4 letter explaining difficulties with subscriptions. Digital scans of all issues are available here: http://www.diplomacyzines.org.uk/library/zine_pages/Pigmy.htm From the introduction of Viskoth the Sad: This is a fairly simple dungeon, designed for 6-8 1st level characters incorporating at least one cleric. The dungeon in which the adventure takes place is an old complex that has recently been renovated by Viskoth, a young magic user. About two months ago rumours circulated that Viskoth (who is famed for his experiments with mirrors) had somehow stumbled on a source of treasure. Several seedy adventurers are known to have been recruited by Viskoth at this time, although they have not been heard of since. For the last week all has been silent at the complex - Viskoth has no longer been making his daily trips to the local town, while no more food supplies have been sent to the dungeons. Two days ago a few dilapated [sic] monsters, mainly scraggy female goblins, were rumoured to have left the complex and yesterday someone glimpsed smoke coming from one of the ventilation shafts.
