From Introduction: The island is a riot of color. Jewel tones dominate with flowers and fruit laden trees as far as the eye can see. Upon closer examination, the fruit and flowers are made of intricately carved precious stones, a fortune’s worth dedicated to giving Persephone a place that reminds her of the spring she so loves. Five fountains bubble along the shore, including one filled with fire and one wailing if you listen. Around the edges of the island, the lushness of the landscape changes to withered plants and dead leaves.
