User summary: The Paradox Character Generator is provided as an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that is used to partially generate a character by using user-entered data fields and formulas to populate derived values. Two implementations of the generator are provided, one for Version 3 of the rules and one for Version 4 of the rules. Although the Version 4 is an incremental improvement it is a substantive improvement, with numerous supporting data sheets available to assist in more-complete character generation and, optionally, to allow for customization of the generator itself. Note the Version 4 of the generator is distributed in a ZIP archive with the XLSM file and a folder containing about fifty pre-defined characters.
