Panguingue

Panguingue (pan-ginn'-gay), or "Pan", is a popular rummy game in the Western part of the United States. Its origin is unknown, but it was regularly played in gambling halls during the California gold rush. Pan is played with a deck of 320 cards (8 standard decks with the 8's, 9's, and 10's removed -- no Jokers). Each player is dealt a hand of 10 cards. The winner of the hand is the first person to meld 11 cards (his 10 card hand plus a draw). Certain melds are called "conditions" and result in the player collecting chips from the other players.
