Description

From publisher blurb: Ozaka's Guide to Legions is a ‘zine-size guide to giants and war for 5e. Stride into battle head, shoulders, waist, and possibly knees above the rest with new playable giants, from ogres and trolls up to the mighty fire, frost, and storm giants! These mighty juggernauts have incredible size and strength but only two magic item slots, and can attune one of them to their own giant nature to unlock elemental powers like the storm giant’s control of the weather or a fire giant’s mastery of flame. Lead armies into battle with the new system for strategic combat, more massive than mass battles, allowing you to lead multiple armies in a fight across several different fronts. The strategic combat system allows you to resolve combats you are not present at within just a few minutes, meaning you can have battles raging all across a massive frontline without having to play out each individual battle as a mass combat, nor get the PCs involved directly with each individual confrontation. Ozaka’s Guide does come with a quick and easy mass combat system for completeness’ sake, but it’s also compatible with whatever mass combat system you’re already using. Being reduced to 0 HP is threatening like never before with the new injury system, a 3d6 table of injuries ranging from mild bruising to decapitation rolled every time you hit 0 HP. If you’re lucky, you may end up popping back up to half HP immediately with nothing more than an exhaustion level and maybe a one-round stun worse for wear, but if you’re unlucky you might end up critically wounded and needing multiple long rests to heal. It’s not all bad news, though. While at 0 HP, you can still take an action to give your surviving teammates a bit of good luck, giving them temporary HP, inspiration, or some extra damage. These buffs are less useful than the actions you might take if you were still on your feet, but it gives you something to do while you’re down besides wraith in agony. And there’s more! New bosses and mooks! Advice on how to design your own action-oriented bosses with cinematic abilities! New weapons and some optional rules for armor! All found in Ozaka’s Guide to Legions!
