Operation RI is a print and play wargame of moderate complexity for one or two players, simulating the Japanese overland advance on Port Moresby in 1942 and the subsequent Allied counter-offensive. If they fail, the Allied forces will launch a counter-attack with the aim of driving the Japanese into the sea. The system focuses on the effect prolonged periods of combat in difficult terrain had on combat units. Units which fight for too long without respite are vulnerable to counter-attack. Each side must manage their forces with respect to fatigue, which represents combat exhaustion and ammunition expenditure, and the inherent logistical difficulties this campaign posed.
