From the manual and User summary: On September 17, 1944 the largest daylight airborne operation in history was conducted in Holland. Thirty thousand paratroopers were landed in an effort to seize and hold a highway over canals and rivers that led straight into the Ruhr valley of Germany. Breaking out from the front lines was a full armored corps determined to drive up that open highway into the heart of Germany. OPERATION MARKET GARDEN simulates this combined airborne and armored assault fostered by Field Marshal Montgomery. The game begins September 17, 1944 and ends September 26, 1944 for a total of ten turns. Each game turn represents a full day of operations.
