North Star Games has been working on a complete redesign of the Evolution system for the past few years. Here are some of the goals: Make all Expansions Compatible Players can add as many (or as few) expansions as they want. Easier to setup and breakdown. Smaller expansions, but more of them. Make the base game a more gentle and inviting experience to new players Less punitive to players who get targeted. Mitigate the snowballing that happens when a player is targeted or gets off to a poor start. Fewer traits, but more thematic and with more synergies. The first point will fix two issues: 1) Flight and Climate are incompatible, and 2) Changing between expansions is extremely cumbersome and easy to mess up. With the new system, gamers will be able to create an epic experience by picking and choosing a mix of their favorite expansions. It will also allow casual gamers to step up slowly by learning 1 small expansion at a time. Smaller expansions also mean we can release 1 or 2 of them each year. The second point will create a better experience to players who are new to the game system, including heavy gamers, casual gamers, and families using Nature as educational entertainment. The final polish was given to Nature early in 2022. We are now testing expansions.
