Description

From the back of the book: The Garden was once a wasteland of stone and iron. Long ago, mysterious beings called the Gardeners have brought back a verdant world. They ask all who are born to tend to this place, giving them a gift of a seed in a moonbeam. This is the Moonflower, which we tend with tears and laughter. Some winters ago, a strange flower began to bloom. Enraptured by the Blueflower's saccharine scent and powers, people have lost their way. A shade of blue washes over the Garden. But your Moonflower still lives. Publisher Blurb: moonflower: a story game of impossible journeys is a tabletop role-playing game, oriented for one-shots without preparations. It does not require a facilitator and roles traditionally given to the "Game Master" are distributed across players and game mechanisms. It uses its own reading of tarot cards to guide the story. In a moonflower story, the players will take on a journey toward the Moon, in order to seek help from the Gardeners who tend to the world. An unnatural blue flower is spreading across the Garden and, soon, all peoples will meld into pleasant and meaningless eternities. It is heavily inspired by other games like Polaris by P. H. Lee and The Quiet Year by Avery Alder. The focus is on the characters’ decisions and choices instead of their accomplishments and victories.
