The game will follow the same plot as the third season of the animated television series Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. In the game, the player assumes the role of a Spinjitsu Master and is tasked with defending the New Ninjago City from the enemy Overlord's evil Nindroid army. The game will contain new characters and villains, as well as characters from the television show including Nya, Sensei Garmadon, Samurai X, and PIXAL.
