From publisher blurb: The Layer of Eggs introduces an entirely new adversary for use with Shadow of the Demon Lord. Here, I reached out to the incredibly talented Kim Van Deun to illustrate a creature from her imagination and then I created a story around the creature including the mechanics needed to use the thing in the game. What Kim turned over was a bizarre eyeless humanoid spider thing with a ring of teeth in its face, a fleshy sac on its back, and a bizarre organ that excretes eggs presumably to hatch into something of equal, awful significance. Shown in a cave, the image proposed some terrible underground thing that would cause considerable trouble for spelunkers, miners, and other deep delvers. I found it quite easy to whip up an interesting story to the illustration and the product of our collaboration continues on the next page.
