BACKGROUND: Kinghts of Arthur is an adventure game where the players assume the role of a Heroic Knights in the age of King Arthur. The Player Knights are young, eager Knights anxious to prove themselves in order to become a Knight of the Round Table. In order to accomplish this, the Player Knights must seek out adventures and quests to improve their attributes and receive a grant from King Arthur to join the Knights of the Round Table. Game-Play Each Player creates their own Player Knight Character composed of the following Attributes: Virtue, Resolve, Chivalry, Stamina, Combat and Defense. Each Player Knight takes their turn individually, using a Player-Knight Counter to represent themselves on the Map. Each Player's Turn consists of the following actions: SEQUENCE OF PLAY 1. Move, Heal wounds or Stay Put. Party may move, Heal or remain in the current location. 2. Encounter Check: Roll on the Encounter Table for each area entered to determine if an Encounter occurs. 3. Resolve Encounter. If an Encounter occurs, roll on the Reaction Chart to determine the Encounter’s reaction. Resolve the Encounter to conclusion, including combat. 4. Conduct Knightly Action: The Player Knight may conduct one of the following Actions: Enter Town/Castle, Shop, Seek Entry to a Castle,Resolve Quest, Acquire a Ship, and several other actions. 5. Attribute Improvement: Player Knights may Trade in earned Valor Points to Improve their Attributes. Combat is resovled on a Battle Mat representing a Castle and surroundings. The combat system is man-to-man and has the feel of skirmish fighting, but, resolved quickly without slowing the game. Knights of Arthur is full of Arthurian Themes from various sources, but, especially from Sir Thomas Mallory's Le Morte D'Arthur. As a Knight, you will perform many Knightly duties including completing quests, dispatching bandits and brigands, participate in battles and sieges, rescuing damsels and possibly serving them.
