User summary Joe Dever's Lone Wolf is a mixture of part (text-based) choose-your-own-adventure, part turn-based tactical combat, released for iOS and Android, and then subsequently on Steam and consoles. It is based on the 80s choose-your-own-adventure gamebooks Lone Wolf by british Joe Dever. In a typical good vs evil fantasy setting, the player plays the Kai Lord Lone Wolf, sole survivor of a mass slaughter of the Kai order by the hands of their age-old enemies the Darklords. The video game takes place in between book 3 and book 4, that is, during the year after the war, after Lone Wolf has been appointed Fryearl over the lands surrounding the monastery. One of the villages in the area has suffered from giak attacks, and Lone Wolf must go there to investigate. Like the gamebooks, the game is text-driven. At the start, rhe player gets to choose Kai disciplines, which will affect what choices he has in the junctions in the book. The fights, however, are turn-based tactical combat, where the player needs to manage his vitality, Kai power and endurance, all the while combining attacks with some Quick Time Events.
