The game takes place inside a three-level building, the Department of Psychiatric Nursing Care in the sleepy village Noville, Iowa, and how, in the United States of America. Players take the role of several of the 62 patients in this worthy institution. Each character suffers from a combination of psychological ailments illuminating his path in life and, as rumored, being the cause of transferring to the Department. The ultimate goal of each game is to free up the Department - a grim place ruled by the staff and the mythical haunted by the Director.
