From the Introduction While most characters fall under the descriptions provided by most classes and species, some have a special quality about them that sets them apart from normal sentient beings. These changes, which differentiate a character from even other members of his species, can be illustrated through the use of a template. A template is a set of changes made to a standard character to make that character reflect those differences more accurately in game terms. The character continues to use all statistics and special abilities from his existing class, except as noted in the text of the template.
