From the introduction: Verdane is a seemingly idyllic farming community. Beautiful rolling fields of wheat, barley, and corn cover soft rolling hills. Shepherds tend their flocks. Clerics of Chauntea tend their gardens. Many lazy evenings are spent at the tavern drinking a good stout. The good life made real. However, every rose has thorns.
