User summary: This version of the game was submitted to the Game Chef competition in 2004 where it received a "runner up" award. The game subsequently was revised and commercially published. This early version uses several action resolution options that allow character to avoid failure - if they're willing to pay a price. During the game posts and competition period the game name was offered in a few different formats - all capitals, or without the subtitle. The final post uses the full name noted here.
