The positions of the white pieces (officers) are drawn by lot for each game and are also decisive for the deployment of Black. All figures, unless they are in their usual place, have double the possibility of movement from their deployment line and only from this line, depending on their quality and their location. So for example, a knight on square 1a is also a rook (knight rook), a rook on b1 is also a knight (rook knight), a knight on c1 is also a bishop (knight bishop), etc. Any move that contradicts the quality of a piece is called a free move. The players must always keep the usual line-up in mind. If a figure moves to another square in its deployment row or returns to it in the course of the game, it has twice the possibility of moving from this deployment row if it does not end up in its usual place. The king also participates in the increased freedom of movement of the figures. However, as in castling, he may not step over a square where he could be captured, may not take a free move once he has moved, or evade check by a free move.
