From the introduction: Once, this world had magic. Then, one thousand years ago, a war of magic raged across the world. Three divinities, a Demon, a Fiend, and a Goddess, descended from their realm and waged war against each other. Mortals caught in the path of their powers were granted magic of their own and forced to fight as slaves to the divinities’ wrath.
