From the introduction: Mary Fillette, a former priestess for a cult, has reported being harassed by “otherworldly creatures”. Rumored to be crazy, most ignore her pleas for help. As investigators with some experience in this area, you decide to investigate her situation anyways. Mary has hired two completely separate groups to investigate this matter, one being all of you here today. As a reward, she is offering half of her fortune and, more importantly to some, a share in the knowledge and experiences she had acquired during her time dealing with the cult. Mary, being about 70 years old and nearly crippled, has been finished with the occult for many years, but apparently the occult is not finished with her...
