Esseas is a game powered by Fate Accelerated by Evil Hat. Eons ago, a cataclysmic event destroyed the old word. Through the efforts of our ancestors a new world was born from its remnants. As the world fractured, a great magic working bound the landmasses together with essence, floating in the Void. This essence is life- not only in sustaining the city-states, but in the great surges that power all workings of the people. The essence put off by the surges is harvested to power every piece of arcanotech that create their way of life. The more surges that surround a city-state, the more powerful that city state is. This arcanotech keeps the various nations in contact, as it powers the Void Ships - submarine-like vessels that navigate the Void between the great masses of land. It also powers the lights that twinkle in the night, the conveyances that are used, and the machines that are used as conveniences and entertainment. They also power more mundane but necessary functions that replenish the water sources that run off the edge of the land, and keep patches of soil arable.
