Eine tödliche Wette (2004)

Translated from the back of the book: "A Deadly Bet by Thilo Bayer 'I accept that bet without hesitation' Sir Eustace Thorndike is convinced of the seaworthiness of his paddle wheel steamer. Of course it can it circle England without heading for the shore! With a select host of passengers Sir Eustace sets off - unperturbed by his shipyard falling victim to arson. The whole voyage seems ill-fated: Theft, sabotage and then murder: What else will happen? The Chicago World Fair 1893 by Thilo Bayer What an event: 50 countries present themselves from their best sides. The beautiful park and the exquisite exhibition buildings and the 'White City' are the backdrop for technical marvels like the first ferris wheel, artisan artistry like german porcelain, natural wonders like the petrified wood from Arizona, an amusement park with countless attractions - and an assassination attempt? The english ambassador perceives danger for the members of his delegation and exhibits. Such an attack must be prevented!"
