From the introduction: The PCs are either camping in the wilderness or staying at a small isolated farmstead. If the later they are awoken by the farmer’s wife’s hideous screams. They rush to her side where she shows them the arm of a human. The rest of the body appears to have been eaten by some wild beast. The farmer reports that a number of the farm animals have also been eaten by the same beast. If the PCs are camping they will find the arm just outside the range of their campfire.
